The Genetic Incongruity Scan or GIS is the blood test developed by [[Ultracorps]], in order to indentify Different individuals. The test was first designed in 2002 and became mandatory for all Metro Area citizens after the passage of the [[Different Acts of 2005]]. In 2007, the test was redesigned into its current two-part system with the first  carrier test, and then the more intense GIS scan.

Only 10% of carriers of the extra Chromosomal pair, are actually Differents. The extra chromosomes in 90% of carriers are made up of junk genetic information. They do not have any effect on the individual. The other 10% contain manful genetic code on their extra chromosomes. The second part of the GIS involves manual inspection of the genetic information found on the extra chromosomes, to determine if they are going to affect the individual.

The GIS system is estimated to indentify 97% of Different individuals tested. The weakness of the tests is largely human. Occasionally the tester assigned to inspect the pair of chromosomes will misidentify the genetic information found as junk, when in fact the individual is a Different. There have also been instances of testers being bribed in order to hide results.
