Metabolic Differents are those that require calories or specific compounds in order to function. It is the most common source of energy to power Different's abilities. Depending on abilities, Different individuals may require anywhere from 2,000 - 500,000 calories a day.
 

Some Metabolic Differents must consume specific nutrients or compounds in order to function. The requirements can vary wildly, ranging Vitamin D to Uranium.


Caloric and nutritional requirements usually vary based on exertion levels. Some Differents can choose not to engage their ability which, in turn, removes their excessive metabolic requirements. However, many Differents have no control over their abilities or their baseline metabolic rate may be too high, threatening the individual's life. If the individual's metabolic requirements cannot be reasonably met, there are often put in what is known as a [[Tranq Coma]]. This is done to save the Different's life. The narcotic known as [[Tranq]] lowers metabolic rates. This can be used to help train the individual to control their abilities.
