Single Parent Theory
Single Parent Theory is one of the Theories on the cause of Differentiation. It holds that all Differents are the descendants of a single genetic ancestor. Supporters claim that this one ancestor, and his or her progeny, spread the genes that created Different individuals. Beyond that one central tenet, this theory can take many different forms. The source of the original mutation in the single parent is often attributed to the Nuclear Theory, the Super Soldier Theory, the Creator Theory, the Alien Theory, or the result of normal random genetic mutation. There is also much disagreement about when the Single Parent began spreading his or her genes. Some argue it happened recently, and the individual used their Differentiation to help them propagate so quickly. Others argue that it happened historically, with a popular version of the theory pointing to Genghis Khan, the Mongolian warlord, as the original Different who then spread the mutation.
Critics of this theory argue that the extreme and diverse nature of the genetic mutations experienced by Different individuals make it unlikely that a single mutation could be the cause. Critics also argue that Different individuals have been confirmed in virtually every populated area on the planet, including islands that have had limited outside contact. It is extremely unlikely that a single individual, recent or historical, could propagate their genetic material to such diverse locales.
