Biography
Roberto Gomez was born in Juarez, Mexico. His family immigrated to the U.S. in 1984, just prior to the closing and militarization of the U.S. Mexico Border. The Gomez family moved between refugee camps in Texas and Arizona and finally the Houston Metro Area, until 1988 when Roberto Gomez Differentiated. The process happened suddenly, causing a small fire, which damaged several tents in the refugee camp in the Houston MA. The fire was contained and Roberto was able to control his abilities well enough to be turned over to Section 26 custody. Roberto was evaluated for six weeks before being released with an offer of employment from Ultracorps. The offer was accepted and Roberto went to work in the Manna Fields, Ultracorps food production facility.
Roberto’s Differentiation allows him to generate massive quantities of heat and light. The light Roberto generates is of a similar spectrum as sunlight, making it ideal to assist with plant growth. This was especially necessary in the late eighties and early nineties when Cabot’s Plague’s limited the amount of sunlight getting to the earth and removed nutrients from the soil, making crop growth difficult in most places. The light generated by Roberto was able to greatly increase the crop growth in Manna Fields, where soil was also enriched to assist plant growth. Roberto’s light was also able to increase the amount of calorie rich Manna produced by the Different Julia Chekov. Although sunlight has almost returned to Pre-Plague levels, Roberto is still employed to maximize normal crop and Manna output.
Differentiation
Roberto is an Alpha Threat Level Different capable of producing massive quantities of heat and light. Roberto demonstrates complete control of this ability. He is able to suppress his heat and light production entirely, or increase it, possibly to levels capable of damaging the planet, although this has not been tested. Roberto generates the heat and light congruently, and cannot control them independently. Roberto is Fission powered; he only requires vitamins, nutrients, and water, to sustain him and his abilities.
