Biography
Michael Grange was born in Jacksonville Florida in 1964. His father supported their large family with his job in construction. Michael Differentiated at the age of 15 and his body began emitting a faint white glow. The Grange family kept Michael condition a secret, keeping the boy indoors to avoid being seen.
In 1983, as a result of the devastation caused by The Plagues, the Grange family was forced to relocate to a refugee camp outside of Miami. Michael’s family attempted to keep him hidden, even within the camp. Michael made the decision to turn himself over to government forces. He was concerned that his abilities might hurt someone.
Michael was turned over to Section 26 personnel who quickly determined that Michael posed no threat. During testing, the light producing bacterium that Michael’s body produced was harvested. These bacteria could be kept alive outside of Michael’s body and even multiply, given the right conditions. The Plagues had destroyed the nation’s electrical grid, and with it, the nation’s source of artificial light. Michael agreed to stay on at Section 26 and to work with government personnel to develop an artificial lighting system based off his bioluminescent bacteria.
From 1984-1986, government made WormLights were relied upon to provide lighting for military forces, hospitals, and refugee camps. In 1987, Michael formed a private corporation called Early Bird Industries, in order to sell his WormLights commercially. Early Bird Industries grew quickly; its revenue reached a height of 4 billion dollars in 1995.
The Different Acts of 1996 made it extremely difficult for any business that required Different labor to operate; an exception was made for Ultracorps. With no other options, Michael sold Early Bird Industries to Ultracorps for roughly $800 million. Since that time, Ultracorps has developed sustained colonies of Michael’s bacteria, and as such, Michael is no longer required to create WormLights. The terms of Michael’s sale to Ultracorps do require him to provide more bacteria should the colonies fail.
Michael has officially retied and he now lives in the Miami MA. He is the chair of several charitable organizations started with his fortune.
Differentiation
Michael is a Bacteria Producer, his body creates a bioluminescent bacteria just under his skin. This causes him to glow with a white hue at all times. The bacterium can be harvested and can survive and even multiply, assuming they are provided with water, carbohydrates, and zinc.
Michael is Metabolic, he requires approximately 2,500 calories a day to function. He also requires approximately 300% of the normal daily value of zinc.
