Fission
Fission powered Differents are those whose abilities function off of energy created by their own cells. These Differents are very rare, less than .1% of all Differents. Fission Differents generally possess extremely high ability levels; they are almost always designated as threat level Alpha. There have been few cases of Fission Differents so it is difficult to draw many conclusions about the group. Most Fission Differents possess a limited number of power producing cells, they still have normal human caloric and nutritional requirements.
The power producing cells have proven very difficult to study. They are impervious to light and the cell walls are almost impossible to puncture. If the cell wall is punctured, the result is a small scale nuclear explosion. This has lead to the theory that these cells are essentially mini-nuclear power plants. The theory holds that these cells rely on the energy emitted by nuclear materials in order to generate their cellular energy. This theory would explain the incredibly ability levels shown by Fission Differents, as the energy produced by the cells is millions of times stronger than the energy normal human energy cells generate.
