Biography
Anthony (Tony) was born in Bayonne, NJ to Frank and Candice Bruno. Frank was a Made Man in the Rizzo Family, the mafia in charge of New Jersey. It is not known when Tony Differentiated but there were reports of mysterious deaths that are consistent with Tony’s abilities starting in 1975. Tony had the ability to produce a toxic liquid that was deadly if ingested or inhaled in large concentration.
Tony began working for the Rizzo crime family, using his abilities to carry out hits. Tony is believed to be responsible for as many as 90 deaths from 1976 to 1983. That ended when the Rizzo crime family was crippled by The Plagues. The devastation to crops and gasoline made it impossible to import the drugs that were the backbone of the Rizzo Empire.
Sometime around 1986, Tony Bruno was able to formulate the narcotic Tranq named after the tranquil feeling the drug engendered. The drug is a dilution of the toxin produced by Tony’s body. When properly mixed with water, it creates euphoric feelings and mild hallucinations. The primary side effects are lethargy and liver damage.
Tony used his control of the drug to seize control of the remnants of the Rizzo crime family, which became known as the Bruno Family. Tony focused on recruiting fellow Differents to help him distribute, sell, and protect his drug empire. By 1988, Tranq was available in every Metro Area and it continues to be ubiquitous to this day.
The Bruno Family is believed to be based somewhere near the remnants of New Orleans, thus far, all attempts to apprehend Anthony Bruno have been fruitless.
Differentiation
Tony's body has developed glands that excrete a powerful neurotoxin capable of causing near instant death. He can shoot this liquid up to about 10 feet; inhalation of the fumes the liquid produces causes the deaths. If the substance is heavily diluted, it produces a euphoric state that can last for several hours. User experience minor hallucinations and feelings of intense happiness.
Tony is capable of producing enough poison to kill a handful of individuals daily but that poison can be used to create about 5,000 doses of Tranq. Tony's abilities are metabolic based requiring him to consume about 4,000 calories daily in order to maximize his production. Tony is immune to any and all effects of the substance he produces.
