Tranq comes are often a medical necessity in order to save the life of Differents. Certain Differents have higher metabolic or specific nutrient needs than can reasonably be met. These individual are often kept under a heavy dose of the narcotic Tranq, which has the effect of lowering metabolic rates. Unfortunately, these individuals are often left barely functioning or even unconscious as a result. Tranq Comas are also used to help suppress the Differentiation of individuals who possess dangerous abilities they cannot control.
